Ephedra’s Grotto - December Staff Pick by Elise

Being from Minnesota, I have to say that I am still, after over a year of living here in Moab, blown away by the beauty of this area and also by how many recreational activities they are.

One of my favorite activities has been canyoneering, and a great place to begin is Ephedra's Grotto.  There are actually two separate repels, the first one of 90 feet gets you down to the entrance of the Grotto, and the second one of 120 feet is near an amazing land

Dead Horse Point - November Staff Pick by Tarah

I work at the front desk. My name is Tarah and I was born and raised here in Moab, while there is a lot to do in this wonderful town, sometimes you get stumped on what to do. One of my favorite places to go is Dead Horse Point. It's just this giant cliff that overlooks the Colorado River and Shaffer Trail, which I will be doing this weekend! My favorite time of the day to go is in the evening when the sun is getting ready to descend behind the mountains. I

La Sal Mountain Loop Road - October Staff Pick by Zinzi

My name is Zinzi and I am from South Africa, Cape Town. I came to Moab 4 years ago and never knew such a beautiful and amazing place existed. Ken’s Lake - July Staff Pick by Alyce

Ken's Lake is the best place to cool down in the desert! It is located 10 miles south of town and while usually there are people visiting, it never seems crowded or busy. It offers camping but also a day use area for swimming, paddleboarding, boating, fishing and more! The lake also backs up to a variety of trails to hike and horseback ride, all while following the path of a creek for a quick dip when you get too hot.

Ken's Lake is part of a water storage

Negro Bill Canyon - May Staff Pick, by Bek

For springtime hiking, you couldn’t choose a lovelier trail than Negro Bill Canyon. This trail is a favorite of our Head Housekeeper, Bek, and is an easy hike for all skill levels.

The canyon was named after William “Bill” Granstaff who prospected and ran cattle in the desert canyon in the late 1870s. Bek frequents this canyon because it is so peaceful and fairly shaded this time of year. Following alongside a creek most of the way, this trail is a good
