Your Guide to the Moab Canyon Pathway

Moab, UT is known for many things and its epic biking trails is one of them. One of the area’s most recent additions is the Moab Canyon Pathway. In honor of National Bike month this May, we’re going to break down all you need to know about the Moab Canyon Pathway.

Where is the Moab Canyon Pathway?

The Moab Canyon Pathway connects Moab to the two National Parks, Arches and Canyonlands, and the Dead Horse Point State Park. The designated path allows riders to avoid busy highways and roads while easily accessing the nearby parks.

It begins at the pedestrian bridge that crosses the Colorado River on HWY 128, near the Lions Park and Bike Path Trailhead. The path continues until the end at HWY 313, where the Moab Dinosaur Park is located. From here bikers have the option to turn back or continue to HWY 313 for a grueling 24-mile climb to Dead Horse Point State Park. Or pedal even further for a 35-mile ride to Grand View Point in Canyonlands National Park’s Island in the Sky.

For those wanting to explore Arches National Park by way of bike, exit about two miles from the beginning at HWY 128 the park for a 30 to 40-mile out and back ride.

How long is the bike path?

The bike path is 17 miles, out and back. Of course, with all the other options to add on you can make the ride longer.

For mountain bikers

Mountain bikers will love the access to several trails such as the Mag 7 (Gemini Bridges) and the Bar M trails. Near the main Bar M trailhead, the pathway dips under HWY 191 and connects with the Gemini Bridges parking lot.

No motorized vehicles

The path is open to non-motorized vehicles, which means ebikes, pedal assist, and no motors of any kind are allowed. But the pathway is not just for bikers. Runners, joggers, and walkers also love the path’s smooth paved surface.
